Heart Rocks
10 years or so ago we spent a month in a cabin. Just Jack and I. For those who don't know, Jack was, and still is, what dog people call my *heart dog*. We belonged together. We fit together. A fine team. He passed a few short years ago.
The cabin was about 10 miles out of Salmon Arm . and approx. 75 yards from the shore of the Shuswap Lake. I would look out my window sipping my morning tea, and watch parents of ducklings show them the ropes of their new turf. I could have drifted away for hours watching them float. Watching them dive for new growth weeds, snails and whatever they were eating. Very peaceful and calm birds.
La sigh, I really loved it there.
It was October when we stayed there. Sadly, I didn't have the camera I have now, or any camera for that matter. Sad because the colors I saw there were stupendous. The smattering of reds and golds and yellows across the lake, around the lake, and just all encompassing was grand.
Each morning Jack and I would walk down to the shore and follow the shore line east. Some days it seemed we walked for miles. Not in a straight line by any means, we never did that. That would be boring. I basically followed Jack. And he criss-crossed and zig zagged and just went where his sniffer told him where we were going next. Life was good. Meandering was good.
One morning I found one heart rock just laying amidst the sand stone. Just sitting there, waiting to be rubbed by the water some more. I'd never seen a rock shaped by waters and elements in the design of a heart! Very cool! 20 feet further, another one.

Once I found the first 2 I seemed to find them almost every walk we took. The ones above were found in a lake, the 2 below are from the Fraser River. Huge difference in texture and shapes.

Hulk Hogan's Hole
Get your minds out of the gutter!
I was going through some boxes, that I've obviously had for decades, and came across 3 boxes of my son's toys, report cards, macaroni art, hand made cards etc etc etc.

Hulk Hogan still survives through the years...

But this pathetic Hulk was turned into a thumb wrestler...

A small sampling of the many *had to have* toy, The Transformers!

I have no idea who this guy is but he looks fierce!

But he does a trick!

That little lever at his back, when quickly pushed up and down....

And yes my thumb did need to be in that position so I could push his lever and record it. Gawwwwd, you people are sick!

StickTape for f**k sakes!!!
Tried to explain what I wanted to a geeky young lady at a hardware store.
It's black tape.
It's very heat resistant.
It's used around the house.
Electricians use it.
Stick tape for fuck sake!!!!
Ohhhh, the geeky young guy next to her said...you mean hockey tape.
Thanks to the geeky guy who must have played road hockey.

Coquihalla River
Facing north west...and standing in the middle of the almost dry ( in spots ) Coquihalla River

Facing south east exact same location

A Cricket camouflaged

We had a record run of some 30 million+ Sockeye Salmon up the Fraser River this year. I give thanks for my few fillets and enough canned to last me through till next year.

The Concrete Jungle and Cupcakes
Yesterday while I was out for a total of 15 minutes, Ticket ate 6 cupcakes. I left them sitting on the counter to cool before they were iced. Hope the paper exits her nicely!
Drove into the concrete jungle of Vancouver yesterday to visit Kelly and Sumeet. They've moved to a ginormous top floor 3 bedroon apartment that has a huge balcony! They were stunned at how much *stuff* they had jam packed into the previous 1 bedroom closet they survived in. Boxes and boxes everywhere. Sal and Sam, their cats really like it too. Well, Sal lacks a wee bit of courage so it took some time before he checked it out.
Kelly and Sumeet acquired a new BBQ, so I acquired their last one. Sweet deal!

Here's Kelly newest toy...what do you think Kevin! Ha!

The journey there was wicked. I had to be stuck in traffic

Drive over 2 HUGE bridges

Go through a scary tunnel

All worth it though. Nice visit with my 2 favorite people!
I've made some more cupcakes and vow to not leave Ticket alone with them. Sorry Ticket but I like them too. I have put aside one non iced one per dog for dessert though. I'm not that mean.
