This is a photo of Kelly taken when he was 5. The Santa is a generic one, one of the thousands sitting in malls every year, that wait to be pissed/shit/puked and begged on by children.

But....is he really a generic one? Or is he really the spawn of Satan??


HEY!!!!! Is *Santa* saying a big fuck you to someone? See his middle finger, I do believe Saint Nick is pissed off. He has the most evil expression!

And Kelly's body language is screaming "get me offa this odd old man!!".

2 years previous, Kelly as well wanted to be anywhere but on that old guys lap. But at least this Santa wasn't all evil and everything.


Okay,and now that I've thoroughly embarrassed Kelly, I'll move along to my Mom. ( just kidding Mom....if she read that she just sucked in all her breath and gave herself an instant migraine. ooops! sorry Mom! )

My wish for snow happened! It snowed/melted, it snowed/melted till what remains is perhaps 5 inches. Of hard packed crust. And it's cold. This week I'm going to take the dogs to Manning Park, and frolic around in waist high stuff! Maybe do a hill or two of sledding. Take some videos, have some fun.

A Los Angeles County assistant fire chief accused of beating his neighbor's puppy with a 12-pound rock was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of felony animal cruelty.

Glynn Damon Johnson, 54, of Woodcrest near Riverside, was handcuffed and led away from his home by Riverside County sheriff's deputies.

If convicted, Johnson could serve up to four years in prison. Johnson was released on $10,000 bond.

Johnson also is charged with two enhancements of using a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The Riverside County district attorney's office filed the charges more than a month after the Nov. 3 incident.

Johnson had said he hit the 6-month-old German shepherd mix, Karley, after she latched onto his hand and wouldn't let go. He said the dog nearly severed his thumb. Johnson and sheriff's deputies said he was treated at a hospital for injuries to his thumb.

The dog was so severely injured she had to be euthanized.

The dog's owners, Jeff and Shelley Toole, said they were happy to see Johnson get arrested from their front yard.

"I'm joyful. This is what we knew he deserved. We wanted him to feel the process of being arrested like a normal citizen," Jeff Toole said. "He did this to hurt the dog and to hurt us. He's not a nice man."

Following the incident Johnson was placed on paid administrative leave from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Officials did not comment Tuesday about the arrest or any changes to his employment status.

The case was fueled by angry rhetoric and protests in front of the district attorney's office along with heightened media attention. District attorney's officials said public pressure did not influence their decision to file charges.

Winterpeg ( I have final and approved permission to call it that now )

My brother and sister in law recently moved back to Winnipeg ( that's in the province of Manitoba, in the country of Canada for you geographically challenged ) after living on the Wet West Balmy Coast of B.C.

I think they were incredibly stupid brave to make that move! Wow!

He has provided me with irrefutable proof that Winnipeg, truly is a Winterpeg. The bone chilling freezing fucking cold of -50 windchill is to descend upon them this evening.


I too was stupid brave enough to live in Winterpeg. A couple of times. My first move there was in mid November. I stepped off the train clad in jeans, runners, t-shirt and sweater, carrying a light jacket. Ummmm, yah, right. My body tightened up and refused to move. After being scraped/ripped off that spot, I attempted to move my legs. Ha! Rubber souls and thick packed sidewalk ice are enemies. On my ass I went. I can still see the laughing faces of farmers and Hutterites. ( Hutterites are a Canadian version of the Amish....sorta', but not. But sorta'. )

I got all nestled in my new apartment, 3rd floor, with a view as far as the eyes can see. ( and that's a long way across the flat prairies ). My third morning there I was excited, because I heard it would snow overnight!! I woke up...opened the curtains to my balcony....and saw white. That's it, just white. *blink blink*

Lit a smoke, peed, put a kettle on for tea, looked again and it was still white. *blink blink*

Phone rings, it's my step-father asking me to make a list of groceries 'cause he's heading to the store. What is he talking about? Had he made a tunnel? No, he says, I'm taking a sleigh. A fucking sleigh?? He directs me to turn on the news channel.

It had snowed soooo much overnight that the roads were useless. The freaking army were driving around town in tanks picking up doctors and nurses to take them to work. Not one vehicle was on the road. Tanks, skidoos, and LARGE sleighs were the transport of necessity.

Phoned my step-father back and placed my order. Good thing because that store was shut down, employees couldn't make it there the next day.

A week or so later life returned to normal. The tanks and army personnel were back to their lives, transit began, cars on roads, no sleighs. Whooo. Hooooo, I'm thinking.

I hop on a bus to downtown do a bit of checking out my bearings. After an hour of walking around in the cold I spot a sign on a window "Fried 'Shrooms and Peas". Ohhh yum, I love fried 'Shrooms and Peas! I walk inside and immediately my glasses fog up. I take them off so I can at least manage to navigate to a table. I sit down, grab a napkin to wipe the now dripping wet glasses....and the fucking frames snap in half. I kid you not.

WTF??? Bizzaro world.

I suppose my frames were made in some country where it was swelteringly hot, and once they had a serious taste of frostbite, they bit it.

A Snow Dump? I can only wish!!

I was looking at the weather forecast for my neck of the woods. In a bright red banner were the words I've been longing/desiring/fervently wishing to see:

I've been very patient waiting for the fluffy white stuff to happen. I mean geez, here it is waaaay into December and nothing yet. My winter gear is wasting away! I want to wear a thick scarf! I want to have to wear mittens! I want to clomp around in my snow boots! Snow already dammit!!

Winter is my favorite season. Can 'ya tell? *gigglegigglegigglegiggle*

Baby Steps

Watcher had a WTF?? moment and I had a WHOA! moment last night.

I was on my way out the door to visit a friend, and at the last second I put Watcher's collar on and brought him with me. I'd never taken any of my dogs there, but because Watcher truly adores Brianne ( 3 y/o human of the household :) ), I thought they'd both enjoy it.

Once there he enthusiastically bounded out of our Van, HUGE grin on his face, gleefully following me to the staircase where we needed to climb to the second floor apartment.

One paw ever so lightly touched the first step up, and then the WTF? look.

Watcher Data: Not once in his entire life had he seen/done stairs. He was born and raised for the 1st year of his life in a *reputable* puppymill ( I'm working on a post about *reputable* animal mills, soon to come ), of which the kennels were ground level. Then he came into my home where their are only 2 steps to come in the front door.

He watched me walk up halfway, about 10 steps, and he fucking freaked. He ran the length of the building and back in the blink of an eye, ran to the bottom step and valiantly attempted the dreaded ladder to hell again.

FAIL.

His anxiety increased a million fold because I, his reason for being, his ability to live and breathe ( those are Watcher's thoughts, not mine.... he's one of those dogs that truly believe that, or maybe it's *separation anxiety* that all those so called self experts think, whateva) was getting further from him.

I went down and tried to cheerfully entice him up "c'mon Watcher! let's go! let's gooo!!" Nuh uh. I tried cajoling "c'mon babe, s'okay let's go up Watcher". Nuh uh.

While taking him back to his safe spot, the Van, I realized that not one of my dogs had walked up stairs. They have sailed over 6' 10" width raised 2' garden boxes when shrieked at by moi, jumped 4' high temporary garden partitions to help me garden by digging the holes (o m g *scream*), scaled a 4 tier flower shelf, but never walked up stairs.

A bit ago I started thinking about making them a sort of "playground" in the yard. A fun agility type of playground. ( easy instructions Here ) I'm thinkin' I need to incorporate some stairs in there.

A good romp in some fields, a walk down the old highway (deserted since the late 60's) crossed the tracks, through a pretty brambly blackberry aisle and there we were!
