We went today because I was told there is a huge run of Steelhead ( what an interesting fish! ) and I was hoping to take some snazzy photos of them. ( did I just say "snazzy" out loud? geeez, I don't even remember the last time I heard, never mind *said* that word! )
But we also went because the dogs truly love it there, lots and lots and lots of new smells, ( big and small forest critters ) wide open spaces to romp and wrestle, and fresh water to drink and wade in. Although....hmmmm, almost anywhere we go around here, those things are happening. That's what life is like when you live nestled in between mountains and rivers.
First thing I saw when I stepped out of the van was this wild and wacky Wind Chime hanging from a branch. ( or is it just some wild and wacky ornament? ) Very cool! Take a look at the chimes...a fork? a washer? a piece of driftwood? And other stuff. How cool is that? It has inspired me to make a wacky and wild Wind Chime! ( you know to click on the photos to make them larger, right? Okay, okay, calm down. So *you* knew, but others, like my Mom, do not know. Just checkin'! )
Frank brought his pogo stick, and boinged every time I tossed a stick. Ready Frank?
BOING!
Awwwww, someday I'll get one of his face in the frame. He does the most freakish face contortions as he boings up. ( boing is my new favorite word....can you tell?)
Then it's an errrrrrch! after I toss it when he reaches the waters edge.
Frankie is a total wuss when it comes to water. He has swam twice in his whole life ( he's 2 now ), and his second summer, this last summer, was the first time he went past his delicate little ankles. Second, as I said earlier, this river is fucking freezing cold, especially this time of Fall. I'd be errrrching! too.
If my buddies could talk, I bet I would blush with all the potty mouth remarks. Well....no. I'd probably giggle. I look at Ticket in this next photo ( my honeypie in the back ) and just know she is saying something like, "why is my bitch holding that stick over her head? throw the fucking thing already! "
Ticket asking nicely for me to toss the stick
That didn't work. Try begging!
Score!
But the coldness doesn't stop Ticket! This girl is the toughest chick I know! ( did I tell you that she made Watcher her bitch?? Ha! ) Oh, and check out Frank here. Doesn't want to even get his tootsies the slightest bit wet.
And now, because wet dogs are....well....wet, which makes me wet ( and cold, 'cause remember about where this river water comes from ? ) , we must RUN and shake off the wet!
Ticket in the background of this next photo makes me wish I was alongside her. Nice stretch out there Ticket!
3 amigos leaving....
3 amigos being good pups to a *here* . ( recall is extremely important in this area. bears and cougars and cubs/kits, oh my! )
Gorgeous river, awesome mountains. And some dick figures this place is the best place to burn a TV? and some tires. Now, I ask you, WTF? These are the times and opportunities that I want to be smack dab, right there, seeing this complete idiot doing this. Great photo op for proof, to nail him with something. At the very least to have his nasty face plastered on the internet for evermore.
I didn't see any Steelhead, but they're in there somewhere!
Trees bleed. See the nail where someone stabbed it? A 100% healthy tree.
Trees bleed sap. That's the lifeblood flowing out. Not nice. Go learn how to pitch ( and no pun intended ) a tent without destroying what you came out to be surrounded by. Assholes.
