Monty Python and the Holy Grail-Video

'Cause it's a laugh your ass off movie.

But mostly because I stupidly forgot to recharge my camera batteries...and we went up to Yale today! Excellent pictures in my mind though!

You might get a pop-up...delete it and press again to play the movie.

Pop some popcorn, lay it thick with butter and salt, and enjoy a hilarious classic flick.

German Shepherd saves owner's life

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A German shepherd has been credited with saving its owner from serious harm or death by placing a call to 911 this week.

Scottsdale police say a service dog named Buddy dialed emergency dispatch Wednesday when his owner, Joe Stalnaker, began to have a seizure.

Stalnaker's condition resulted from injuries he received during military service.

He adopted Buddy as an 8-week-old puppy and trained him to retrieve the phone when seizure symptoms manifest. If Stalnaker has blacked out or cannot place the call himself, Buddy uses his teeth to press programmed buttons until a 911 operator is on the line.

Buddy, now 18 months old, can be heard whimpering in an audio recording of the 911 call placed about 11:45 a.m. Emergency responders arrived at the home about two minutes later.

Stalnaker told reporters that it was the third or fourth time that Buddy has made a 911 call. A statement from Scottsdale police said Stalnaker was in the hospital for two days but has recovered.

"Buddy, he basically gives me my independence," Stalnaker said during an interview. "He's my world. He's my best friend, no question. He's always there, and I just hope I can be as good to him as he's been to me."

Volunteer Plant...What is it?

This plant appeared in the compost pile a couple of months back. It screamed "I WANT TO LIVE" so live it did! Initially I thought it may be a pumpkin, but nope. Then I wondered if it was a squash?

The flower

The plant....which is about the size of a large grapefruit

Yesterday, when all these photos were taken, was a *do nothing* day for me. I really should have spent the first of my 2 days off mucking out the bathroom ( after bathing 3 dogs in the tub and the shaking outside of the tub, I have enough dog hair to give a bald Woolly Mammoth ). Or I should have cleaned out the oven from the spillage of last weeks Black Bean Lasagna ( omg, what a freaking mess that is!! ). But I did zip, zero, nada fucking thing.

The dogs and I spent the day in the yard, puttering around, chasing thrown balls, wrestling, chasing each other 'round and 'round the shed. It was fun!!

Here's the mountain behind my house at 7:20 pm yesterday. ( Hope Mountain )

A salmon tail end and potatoes steaming over hot coals in my fire-pit in the backyard.

Ticket and Watcher never strayed toooo far from the smell of dinner

It was delicious!

As usual, Frank is found smack dab beside me, almost glued to my leg

And who says dogs shouldn't be allowed on beds? Try telling that to these guys! Ha!

I don't know what the name of this bird is, but it sure is pretty! In a tree in the yard...

Belgian Shepherd

Today at work I spotted what I thought was an elderly German Shepherd X . She was gorgeous! I went outside to ask if I could photograph her. Her guardian gleefully said yes, and told me she was an 11 year old Belgian Shepherd. She was recently shaved down because of the heat wave we endured a few weeks ago. Sweet sweet dog...

Isn't she pretty!!

Here's some of the hanging baskets of flowers at my work. The owner has a true green thumb.

A picture of the sky outside of work, approximately 4 pm. Looking east....

Looking west

Hmmm, now looking at the above photo, I can think of only one reason to be sad for moving from Vancouver. I can't see the sun set. I miss seeing it sink into the sea. It goes beyond the mountains here much much earlier.

The P.N.E. and Stanley Park

I went to the P.N.E. with a co-worker last week. I went on one ride, the roller coaster. It is a wooden coaster built in 1958. It is a must for me to ride on whenever I have the opportunity. After the first big hill it climbs it all operates from gravity. I LOVE it!! Here's a youtube video about it:

And some photos from that day.

The midway ( or...suckers lane hehehe )

Then I went into the Agricultural building. I really shouldn't have though....it upsets me each and every time. It contains all the baby animals, and 4H animals.

Calves that were 10 days old....shouldn't they be suckling Mom, being frisky, and investigating life?? Not stuck in some pen being touched and poked at by the human animal.

Boer goats...babies

Llama's

Does the human animal really truly STILL need to view and man-handle other animal species to make them happy? I suppose so.

There were hundreds of cute baby chicks there, and ducklings. The kids and adults ogle and stroke them, and remark how cute and soft they are. There should be an entrance fee.

An entrance fee that is a video of how they truly live, and how they are incredibly inhumanely slaughtered/murdered for the human animal gullet to digest.

Let me explain, and back track a bit. I spent some time at an animal sanctuary, S.A.I.N.T.S. , where I met a frightened pink baby pig ( the kind that some eat ) that came from an S.P.C.A. . Then a short time later came a calf, that was destined for the dinner plate as well.

They were babies. Infants. Ripped away from their mothers and herds. Did you know that pigs and cows cry when upset? They are sentient beings ( along with canines, felines, equines etc etc etc ) that feel anguish, pain, love, compassion....all the same emotions and feelings that the human animal feels.

Anyway, upon my first meeting with Ellie ( the pig ), and Percy ( the calf ) almost 2 years ago, and looking into their eyes, I have not eaten pork or beef. I am slowly weaning myself from chicken and fish, and I hope to be vegan soon.
I really thought I would miss eating my favorite meal.....roast beef, but nope!

Now onto our drive through Stanley Park

Totem poles, which you can learn more about by going HERE

The Inner Harbor which separates Stanley Park from the concrete jungle known as Vancouver

A horse drawn carriage

This horse is soooo loving his *job*. NOT.

The "Lady In A Wetsuit" is a life sized bronze statue that sits on a 10 foot tall rock. If you look closely you can see a gull keeping her company.
