There will be one more soul joining Watcher, Frankie and I in only 20 more sleeps!!!
A female!!!! I've never had a female dog!
She's a 1 year old German Shepherd Dog, and gorgeous. Introducing Sancardou's Texas Ticket.
She has beings to meet, places to go and things to see!
Live a life.
I owe a big debt of gratitude to my much loved friend Jo. She lives near where Ticket is, and is tending to the spay. And is also keeping Ticket in her home, where she will learn about canine socialization, household noises, and just learning to adapt to living inside a home.
And I also, of course, owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to Ticket's breeder. Know that she will be adored, loved, and tended to gently and kindly all the days of her life. Thanks for entrusting to me, this oh so special gift.
Welcome Ticket!
omg omg 20 more sleeps....omg omg 20 more sleeps
Here is a blog from a young American woman currently residing in Granada Nicaragua. In her words, in her bio " For the moment I live in Granada Nicaragua. Through an organization called Building New Hope I work with Casa Lupita, a spay/neuter clinic that also works to improve the quality of life of street animals in Granada "
Simply said....she and the crew she works with do an EXCELLENT job for the lack of finances they have to work with, and the amount of animals they deal with daily.
Read the blog from the day one entry, you'll be hooked and hopefully will send some good vibes, positive karma.....and maybe $20? ( or more...hehehe ) It's all good.
Nicaragua Redux: The Sarna Dog Chronicles
I learned I was ill-prepared for it.
And I learned that I really do not like roughing it.
K, the ill-prepared parts.....why didn't I think to bring an air mattress? Why didn't I set up the borrowed tent beforehand to make sure it was long enough to stretch my legs/and make sure the f*ckin tent pegs fit the thingies they go into? WHY did I forget my blanket? ( but of course remember to bring 8 dog blankets so they could at least be comfy? )
And, the not thrilled about roughing it part.....I know that even IF I had a tent I could stand up in, and it was square ( this thing I borrowed was round! Round for gawd's sake! AND it was a "2-person" tent! Ummm, are there alot of round people out there? I am only familiar with the up and down kind. sheesh ) I wouldn't pitch a tent anywhere. The shitters in the campgrounds....it doesn't matter how "clean" they look, they creep me out. "Nuff said about that topic. The picnic table was so sticky and dirty it was disgusting. I wanted to sand that crap off and paint the table before I set my beer can down on it! :)
I could go on, but I don't want to sound like a whiner. AND a sniveler.
Watcher and Frank, my German Shepherds, were also not prepared for it. When I take them up in the mountains they are always on 30 foot leads....but those leads are not tied to anything. They have them on just in case I need to pull one of them back from a raccoon, or a skunk, or gawd forbid a bear or? But in this case they had to be tethered to a tree. ( or they would have done a bit of wandering when my back was turned ) If it wasn't pissing me off so much it would have been comical....I had to untangle themselves from each other, or a tree, or my Van, or a huge boulder approximately every 17 seconds. They ended up becoming stressed by the whole situation. Poor buggers.
Anyway, I do NOT see myself "camping" anytime soon.
Oh, I could do it in an R.V. or a camper, 'cause I can get into a fire and BBQ'ing outdoors, and the aromas of the forest are great, but not in a dinky tent.
Here's a couple of photos of a Chipmunk, who hung around the entire time we were there. We didn't have to feed him anything, he seemed to be finding nuts and seeds all over the campsite.

And a couple of a Woodpecker.

No photos of Watcher and Frankie, I was too bloody busy un-tangling.
