Boring home movies

But at least they're short! :)So, to show you Jack still hasn't lost his ballgameness ( a new made up word :), I present to you, Jack!

It's a frickin' winter wonderland!

I LOVE SNOW!! But sometimes, too much of a good thing is not always a good thing! Everyday for the past 2 months I've been hoping and hoping for a super big snowfall. And while it did come in dribs and drabs, it never snowed enough for me. Till now.

The sky will drop even more fluff from above over the next few days. Oh joy. Well, actually, it is a joy because it's so damn pretty! And it makes the earth be still and quiet. And HA! as soon as I said that a couple of snowmobilers zoomed past the house!

Jack is doing fine. He does tire quickly, and takes more naps. But he's still eating the home cooked meals I've been making him for breakfast and dinner. Snarfs back every morsel. When he turns his nose up at chicken breast, liver and ground goat and beef I'll start sweating.

Every day his prepuce ( outer skin of his penis ) gets more "bruised". Here's a photo of it. If you're squeamish, don't look.

K, now to soften that last image in your brain, I give you Frankie....

WTF is this German Shepherd doing? Doesn't it look like he's "goose-stepping"?? Any second he may give you a *heil hitler*.

I tried so hard to get photos of Watcher and Frankie in the snow, but most of them turned out like this.

This one was taken through the window. Watcher's waiting for me to come outside. He won't make a move unless I'm with him. Such a momma's boy he is. They all are actually, Ruger was the top cling-on though. :)

Jack looking mucho serious.

A mug of hot chocolate has been on my mind since yesterday....buh bye!

Good days

and not so good days. I wish they were all good, especially for the animals.

Jack had a couple of pretty down days last week, and d
uring the worst of it I booked a euth for the Monday that just passed. Well he perked right up, so GOOOOODBYE MONDAY!!!

Kelly and Sumeet came out to visit him on Saturday. And brought him a shitload of his most favorite treat, the crappy processed stuff. He LOVED the visit and of course the treats! A helluva lot of drooling went on. :))

Sunday was so-so for him. We spent alot of time cuddling.

Monday morning, just after his new regime of a scrambled egg breakfast, he initiated a soccer game with me!

So, we played for a bit indoors.....because it was raining....and Jack is a pussy for the rain.

And then a bit more....

( The blankets are littered all over because the bloody floor is cold!! And when Jack lays down I want him comfy and warm. )

A good time, right Jack!

Yesterday we had another game of soccer and lots of sniffing and strolling in the yard and garden. He snarfed back his dinner and all is well! *grin*

Today, we went for a drive and on one of his 2 favorite walks. I'm limiting him to the flat one because his back legs were arthritic to begin with, and they are slowly crashing apart. But, he trotted today!

The trotting along for a bit made my heart smile. When he was a young buck he was racing through tall reeds, over the fields, jumping over and on things. Joy! Joy! Joy! Then his frickin' body said "slow down, you're middle aged". So, he ran less and trotted more. Then his body AND his legs said "if you don't stop trotting, we'll crash". So, he plodded. So you can see why the trotting today made me almost break into song.

I've read that dying people and animals usually have one last good time before the bad time sets in. Is this what is happening? I hope not but If so, I am loving it. To see him totally happy in these instances of the past few days, has been a gift.

Jack

Jack is sick. Very very sick. He has the bastard cancer Hemangiosarcoma.

It's called the *silent killer*.

Because by the time it is noticed, it is too late. Oh, you can remove body parts and put the animal through chemotherapy. And the animal will live through a few more drugged months. (I believe it is 2- 4months ) And on the wayside: I understand why those people choose to do that. I get it. I know that love.

Almost everyone chooses their path, but Jack's seems to have been elected for him. He says no to any heroics. He said it , not I. We talked. Well, mostly he did the talking. Jack's a deep thinker, but when he gets talking..... HA!

I heard you baby.

R.I.P. Ruger

Ruger Donnelly

June 1, 2004 ~ January 11, 2008

Ruger, my sweet sweet loving boy passed away sometime in the am hours when I was sleeping.

He was his happy-go-lucky self, full of piss and vinegar, at bedtime.

This morning ( Jan,11th ) I knew something was wrong by the quietness. Not one dog wagged a tail, no one kissed me good morning, not one bark.

I suspect a neighbor, or the city, set out rat poison and Ruger, being full of prey drive, tracked down a dying rat.

He had a tissue sample removed and blood drawn, so I can know for a fact what caused his death.

He left me with a smile and a great image. I had bought all the guys an 8 inch raw bone yesterday. He had managed, over the evening, to carry them all to his bed area. He didn't devour them, he just stole them. That was soooo Ruger. *grin*

He was a brat, a bully, and an utter softie. He was the best hugger. Oh my gawd Ruger hugs good!! Every morning, while the other dogs ran out to pee, he hung back for a minute or two and we had * a moment *. Without fail, every morning. We said good morning, we hugged and I would kiss both sides of his incredibly soft face, and he would lick me so gently I could barely feel it. I'll miss those mornings forever.

If you know of anyone who sets out poison tell them to please please please stop,or if you yourself do, please please please stop. It's a horribly wicked painful way for any animal to die.
