River Walking
Here, yesterday, is a photo of the world's most pitifully sad dogs
Okay! Okay!! Let's go to the river!
WTF is this stuff??
2 huge patches, both about 2 inches thick with hair. Deer hair?? No blood, nothing to determine a death happened there. But why all the hair?? Oddest thing I've seen around here.
I didn't realize the river was so low, and alot of the sand has been washed away. Spring and summer is the best time to go to Hunter Creek I suppose. Too many big rocks makes for an uncomfortable walking surface.
But geeeeeezuz, check out the slab of glacier rock!
The rocks in this creek have aged green from algae. Pretty!
Rocky walking, so we headed over to the blackberry walk to the river. Here the river was too high. There were also a few back eddies that would have swept the dogs down river, so we didn't stay for long.
Careful guys!! They had no intentions of swimming, too bloody cold, but a few more feet out I would have had to jump in and pulled them back. I'm going to stay away from this spot for a bit.
Look how beautifully smooth,and round, these rocks/pebbles were....
It snowed last night! Just a light dusting. I liked waking up to it....and here I thought I was donedonedone with winter weather. It did piss off Frankie though. He hates snow and rain. When his little pansy feet touch the wet it's like his feet are on fire. ( behind his back, Watcher, Ticket and I call him Miss Priss )

Litterbugs Extraordinaire
Yesterday when I left S.A.I.N.T.S. it was still fairly light out. I was glad because I wanted to see if I could get a decent photo of a group of Eagles that have been hanging around the river. The Eagles weren't there so I made my way back to the van. Something in the grass median across the highway caught my eye.
Hmmm, looks like an empty milk jug, right? On closer inspection....
Nope. That's not Apple Juice!
It's something I see about every 1/2 mile littered on both sides of the highway, including the medians.
Lazy ass semi truck drivers piss in the empty milk jugs, more than once as evidenced in the above photo, then toss them out. This has been going on since I can remember. Not sure what containers they used before the big plastic jugs came along.
WTF?
Is there really such a sense of urgency to get to their destination that they can't pull off the road and urinate in the bushes, like everyone else? ( come oooon, you have so peed in the bushes!! ) And, if they really can't stop and pee, then why the fuck can't they put the jugs in garbage cans at the gas stations or their destinations?? Why do they have to completely and utterly ugly up the highways?
I think I'm going to write a "letter to the editor" to every newspaper in B.C. and CC that to every semi trucking company in Canada. It just disgusts me.
Here's a photo I took of the sunset behind the mountains. I sure miss seeing the sun set along the line of the earth. Much more magnificent.

A Movie Date With A SAINT
Today I had a movie date with a SAINT.
Actually 2 SAINTS.
Seriously!
I went to the only senior animal sanctuary in Canada, S.A.I.N.T.S. located about 1.5 hours away to snuggle/pet/caress an animal while watching a movie. Hence the name, A Movie Date With A Saint.
I was partnered with Cleo
She heard Carol, the Director of S.A.I.N.T.S., drive off to pick up a pooch at the vet's and didn't settle for 15 minutes. Tis love personified.
Dusty, was my other date. She has been at S.A.I.N.T.S. for a week. She was found wandering in Chilliwack, blind and emaciated.
Who the fuck does this to a dog??
The photos don't do the damage justness. She'd put on a few pounds and had a bath after she found her way to S.A.I.N.T.S. Her elbows were crusted, and hard, and thick, the way they get with laying down consistently on hard surfaces. Poor poor love.
I had a great time. I don't remember what movie I watched though! Both dogs very sweet and loving. Dusty inhaled the popcorn, Cleo waited for Carol to return. Oh, she ate a bit of popcorn, and 100% inhaled the lovin', but her heart was elsewhere though. ( I loved that!! that made my heart smile.
Just after my movie date ended Carol and her associate Nicole returned with a 2 month old female Malamute pup. Apparently someone had bought her from a breeder in the U.S. , along with a male pup from different litters with intent to breed and sell. Yet another puppy mill going to happen in B.C.
The female pup became ill, they took her to the Vet and it's Parvo. Instead of paying the $900 fee to make her healthy they opted to euthanize. The Vet, having a conscience, notified S.A.I.N.T.S. While they are normally a senior sanctuary, they could not turn this wee babe down. They will keep her, love her, and medicate her till she is healthy enough to go to the local Malamute Rescue, who will be able to identify the most appropriate home for her.
Just after Carol, Nicole, and the pup pulled in the driveway an owner surrender came. How very very sad. ( *seriously make me tear up* ) A 9 y/o blind Golden Retriver. The circumstances on the surrender were beyond control. This dog had no where to go.
Fuck man.
Listen, go to your animal shelter/pound whatthefuckeva. Walk a dog. Maybe you might commit to 1 hour a week to walk a dog. The absolute joy on that dogs face will astound you.
Grow some catmint and make some toys for the cats.

If you have children, what a wonderful life lesson for them! Help those who cannot help themselves....right?
